AJ loves facts. He watches videos or TV shows and then looks up facts. He is constantly telling us information that he has learned at school, from reading, watching a show, or looking up something on the internet. He asks at least once when he is with us, "Moppy, can I google _____?"I always ask what. I then verify the authenticity and ensure he is reading the appropriate information. His mind is like a sponge and reminds me of his dad, and me when I was his age and even now. Although I didn't have the resources or television, I loved learning and still do. That makes it harder for a teacher. I am always reading, looking for more information, and then trying to determine where to stop teaching certain subjects. As you know, in each grade, we have certain standards and frameworks and material grows from one grade level to another. Even in my Christian life, I do the same thing in the Women's Bible Study. As we read about Haggai, I am constantly learning more information and wanting to know more about the time, the people, the culture, and their struggles. I know my pastor must shake his head every time I send a text or call asking for more information. We have an older gentleman at church who is a wealth of information. I could sit and listen to him for hours asking questions and picking his brain.
Where am I going with this? I Thessalonians 4:1 states, "Finally, dear brothers and sisters, we urge you in the name of the Lord Jesus to live in a way that pleases God, as we have taught you. You live this way already, and we encourage you to do so even more." Do we live the way the Bible has taught us to live? Do we prepare for His return and store up the word of God in our hearts? Psalms 119:11, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." The Bible gives us information and facts about how God lived, how we should live, and treat others, and His return. Within these pages, God instructs our daily lives. As I listen to AJ with his facts, I wonder do I have the same zeal for storing up God's words and learning more about His instructions as a child does learning information? Do I want to know more and yearn for His instructions and promises?
You see, Finding-My-Voice is not just about learning to find a voice for the things that I know God puts on my heart. I think this blog is about Finding-My-Voice in the Christian world and living by His instructions, soaking up the words, storing them in my heart, and learning to live by His instructions. Preparing myself for a Heavenly home. And, Yes, using the experiences that God placed as My Voice to do all these things. Experiences that sometimes I don't have a voice to say aloud, but my hands can express. Experiences that I didn't just live through, God held me while I went through them. Finding-My-Voice is actually finding His voice in me.
