A Living Word...

Growing up, I could lose myself in a book and read everything I could get my hands on. Yes, it was my way out. While immersed in a book, all the day-to-day struggles were gone. I was in a different country or time, around different people, and was loved. I learned quickly that once you put the book down, that love is gone, and you are face-to-face once again with the grim reality of life. That is, until I found The Living Word, The Bible, and the one who inspired those words. 2 Peter 1:21 states, "For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as the Holy Spirit carried them along." When these men wrote the Bible, the words were inspired by God.
I still enjoy reading. I still enjoy the images, places, and outlet that reading provides. Although I don't read for leisure very often anymore, I understand the difference between reading words and reading The Word, The Living Word. I understand the difference between the love portrayed in books and the love of the One True God. I understand His comfort, joy, and peace.
Why this topic? Why so short? When I opened this blog to write, and prayed to the Lord for His guidance, as I always do, these are the words that flowed. We see in Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." My takeaway is that God wants me to remember that His word is the Living Word. He wants us to remember that His word has a message for every moment. I will open His Word and seek His Face.
