Israel Moment…
Israel Moment…

My husband and I have talked a lot about our upcoming election. We believe whatever the outcome our Lord is in control. As we were talking today, I cannot help but see an Israel moment in this. I love to read through the Old Testament. It is applicable to our lives today. Are we facing our own Israel moment? Are we on the verge of being carried off into exile? An exile that will take place here. The Israelites would not turn back to God. They strayed so far that God promised they would face their disobedience. As my husband mentioned everything America has done to remove God from taking the Bible out of schools to candidates claiming God is nonbinary and millions supporting that candidate, I am seeing our country becoming less of a nation under God and more of a nation like Israel was in the Old Teatament. They worshipped their own idols. They knew the history, yet they believed instead in their own ideals and values, not in the God of their fathers.

We talked this morning in Sunday School about discerning God’s voice. I hear Him telling me to Trust and Obey. I don’t question that. Do I think that means our nation won’t face the consequences of disobedience? Absolutely not! We all face consequences for our actions. There were good men of God who were carried into Babylon. Ezekiel was one of them. Even in Babylon, He spread the word of God. Ezekiel 1. “2 On the fifth day of the month (it was the fifth year of the exile of King Jehoiachin), 3 the word of the Lord came to Ezekiel the priest, the son of Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the Chebar canal, and the hand of the Lord was upon him there.“

I believe we are at an Israel moment and our nation has a choice. We can turn back to God. But if we choose this path, we will face our exile, of that I am certain! I hold to the promises to Trust and Obey. I hold to the scripture 2 Chronicles 7:14, “if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”
