Stand and Salute…
Stand and Salute… Our world is so crazy that sometimes I look around in amazement. No, I'm not going to get too political. My husband and I got away for a quick ballgame this past weekend. We don't get to do that often, together anyway. I'm usually going with a friend, and he is working. We both love softball, and watching our favorite team is a stress reliever. At the beginning of the game, the usual pregame festivities took place. At the appointed time, the announcer a

Lip-Service Christian…
Lip-Service Christian... I have watched this young lady for 4 years play ball, complete assignments, and live life with grace and quiet determination. When asked about her future, she simply stated that she prayed and let God lead her. Proverbs 16:9, "The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.". You see, too many times our lips tell one story and our heart tells another. We tell everyone that we do not worry and that we believe God has a plan. But

God Sees You...
God Sees You... Our church attends a conference each year for seniors (over 60). There are speakers, singing, comedian, and good ole Gospel music. This year, my husband and I attended, along with 14 others from our church. We try to fellowship together, eat together, everyone parks at the hotel and rides the bus together to the conference and meals. While eating yesterday, one of our waitresses at a buffet where we went, noticed a lady standing over to the side. She was visi

Breaking Free…
Breaking Through… My husband sent me this image yesterday. The gate entering a hay meadow from the pasture. Obviously, the cows had a serious need to get to the fresh grass. Immediately, I thought of our need to break free from so many of life’s circumstances and situations. You see, we are similar to these cows. When barriers exist, we often don’t know how to cope with the walls that surround us. We struggle with the situations and challenges. We seek to free ourselves with

Climbing Mountains…
Climbing Mountains… Hiking was one of the many things my husband and I loved to do together. If there was a trail nearby, we hiked it. When we traveled to another state, we hiked in some park. Whether it was the Appalachian Trail, Continental Divide, Yosemite, Yellowstone, Maine, Minnesota, Virginia, British Columbia, or Devil's Den in Arkansas, we have hiked there. It wasn't anything for me to gather everything together the night before for the next morning, head out to

Raindrops From Heaven…
Raindrops From Heaven… I love to watch the clouds gather, the breeze begin, direction of the wind change, and slow steady drops fall. My favorite spot, on my front porch, gives way to peaceful rhythmic swaying of my swing as the sky lets loose raindrops from Heaven. I see and hear the sounds that leave memories strolling through a quiet place. Sometimes these memories are of times and places that bring joy, but at other times these memories bring sadness just like the raindro

Ears to Hear…
Ears To Hear… My constant prayer over the last few years has been for eyes (new eyes) to see and ears to hear. Fifteen times the phrase, "ears to hear" is mentioned in the New Testament. In the Old Testament, hearing is referred to with obedience. When I think of these words, I know God is telling me to listen for instructions. I can hear Him saying to me, "Listen to Me, listen to My word, and see what I am revealing. Open your eyes and your ears and listen with obedience."

Eggs...
Eggs... My grandson is an only child, and the only grandchild. This means there are a lot of activities that he does by himself. He doesn't have extended cousins that are available for Christmas, Easter, 4th of July, or family gatherings. Easter egg hunting is simply one of those things that is not fun by yourself. Yesterday, we decided that I would be his partner in the hunt. I informed him that I thought I could find more eggs than he, and the race was on. His dad and

Empty Tomb….
Empty Tomb… Mary watched as her Lord was crucified. She saw Him tortured hanging on the cross, and she saw Him die. Mary didn’t understand what would come to pass, she only knew grief. Her love for Jesus was evident in her service. Evident in her life. It is not surprising to me that Mary was at the tomb early that morning. John 20:1, “Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed from the
