God Sees You...

Our church attends a conference each year for seniors (over 60). There are speakers, singing, comedian, and good ole Gospel music. This year, my husband and I attended, along with 14 others from our church. We try to fellowship together, eat together, everyone parks at the hotel and rides the bus together to the conference and meals. While eating yesterday, one of our waitresses at a buffet where we went, noticed a lady standing over to the side. She was visibly upset. The woman was barely able to carry her purse and knew she would not be able to fix and carry her plate. As tears filled her eyes and began to spill over onto her well loved cheeks, the waitress told her she would help her fill her plate with food and carry them back to her table. The woman said to her, “I dont want to get you in trouble.” The waitress waved off her worries with a smile and explanation that it was slow and she had a little time. “They won’t be upset.”, she said. Off they went with the woman wiping away her tears with a napkin strategically given to her.

You see, my immediate reaction was tears filling my eyes at her kindness. I thought of Hagar in the wilderness. Genesis 16:13, “She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”. God sees us. He sees our heart. He sees our outward actions that portray an inward presence of Him. We are made in His image.

The waitress assisted her in filling her plates, carried them to her seat, helped her sit, and made sure she had what she needed. As she passed me when she was leaving, our eyes met, I said “Thank you.” She simply smiled. This woman was very busy with her duties In the middle of a Saturday rush at a large buffet. But, she stopped, listened, and loved well. God sees you.
