Let Go-Let God…

When waves crash to the shore, they rush headlong in, but then quickly retreat taking bits and pieces of anything loose with them. The waves continue this pattern without halting or regard for anything caught in their grip. We cannot, nor do we have the power to stop, alter the pattern, or change the intensity of these waves. I cannot tell the waves of life to be calm, but God…
God has the power and authority to calm the waves, those that are literal and metaphorical. He has the power to still our raging mind and troubled heart. Psalm 107:29, "He made the storm be still, and the waves of the sea were hushed." And Mark 4:39, “He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.” The Psalmist remarks in Psalm 89:9 that “"You rule the raging of the sea; when its waves rise, You still them". He recognizes and welcomes God’s grace and peace for any storm or situation.
I have a friend and fellow prayer warrior that remarked to me about a situation that they don’t “know what that looks like”. They weren’t referring to God stilling the storm, but that phrase, Oh my! My Wow! Oh, how many times have I said that and still say that. You see, I remarked that I Let go-Let God, give it to Him, but then I pick it back up again. If you are honest, most of us do this.
I was talking to a young lady last night about her situation, and she does this. We navigate this wave daily. We give it to God, and He takes it back out as if waves are moving it away from us. Then the waves (storms) rush it back to us again. We go to God. The waves take it away. He stills the storm. For me, and this young lady, that pattern is repeated. Are we alone on an island in this pattern? I don’t think so. The act of human nature is wanting to control the situations. The act of obedience is knowing Who does. For at least a few of us, it is a continual act of Let go-Let God, Be still. Do I know exactly what that looks like? In my life, it looks like pray. It looks like scriptures, His word. It looks like trusting and obeying. It looks like grace, mercy, and love. It looks like waves, but with an overwhelming sense of His presence, beauty, and strength.
