Boundaries Are Biblical…10-29-25

I wish it hadn’t taken me as long to realize how important boundaries are. When my grandson was young, we set boundaries. He learned what was okay to play with, where he could go, and what we thought important to protect him from that might be dangerous. His grandpa and I set limits on screen time, he has a bedtime, and we TRY to limit sweets. The boundaries are clear and communicated. They are as evident as paved paths in my parking lot that determine and dictate where I can and cannot park.

Boundaries are Biblical. Starting in Genesis, God has given us boundaries for our own good. In the Garden, Adam and Eve were given instructions to not eat from the tree. In Philippians 2:3 God calls us to be humble, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves,”. Proverbs 4:23 tells us to “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”.

You see, boundaries protect us spiritually. They give us guidance. These boundaries are throughout God’s word. We know how to act, love, serve, give, and worship. Each boundary is a blessing to our life in Christ. Respecting and maintaining those boundaries brings us closer to Him spiritually. I’m a rule follower. I have never been one to push boundaries. I am so thankful for a God given outline to live by in His word.
