Move Closer...
Move Closer...

I become very excited when I realize how things are working together, and I know without a doubt that it is the Lord in the midst. (Romans 8:28). It is so easy to praise and glorify when we are on the mountaintops. We can see for miles and our eyes are focused and sharp. When we go down into the valleys, the fog starts to move in and rain begins, our focus can become limited. We are easily distracted by the thunder, rain, lightning, and shadows moving in as the dark approaches. We become anxious at the impending storm. It is hard to stay in the posture of prayer and trust.

Oh, don't get me wrong, as Christians we know storms. But, for some of us, it is easier to praise in the Sun. In the midst of the storm, we move in a protective stance. We begin to protect and shield ourselves. Now, I may be on an island when I say "we". You may not do this at all. You may be so strong that you don't waiver in any storm. I, however, don't waiver, but at times I will bend as a willow that has not been tied to a support stake. Sometimes I sway too and fro and hang on for dear life. Sometimes, sometimes, I look down when I need to look up.

Our Women's Bible Study class has been studying the Trinity. It was with excitement as I entered church Sunday worship knowing that our pastor was preaching on the Holy Spirit. I listened and took notes as He talked about our best friend, our comforter, our protector, and our support. The One who guides us with divine intervention, and is that still small voice that reminds us who God is. That voice which reminds us where we are and who we are.

It occurred me to that in those storms, I move away from the protective arms of my Father who provides my every need, (Matthew 6:9-13). I move away from the comfort of the Holy Spirit, (2 Corinthians 1:3-4), and I move away from the healing of my Savior, (Matthew 11:5). I move to protect myself when all along, He is there to protect me. No, I'm not in the midst of a trial, that I know of, yet! But, I know I will be. I know I will again face those strifes and struggles. I know I will be in the presence of God asking for His guidance on a daily basis. I know I will be in His arms being held when I am lost in a situation and am fearful of what is to come. However, I know who I am believed, that He is able to keep me....2 Timothy 1:12, "

For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day."
