Ostrich In The Sand…9-26-25

This plant reminds me of an ostrich. It stretches it’s neck here and there with curiosity. As the wind blows, it turns and twists retreating with the heat to the safety of the sand and dirt below. I often feel like I must be an ostrich with my head stuck in the sand. We are constantly told as a society to ignore certain things, things aren’t what they seem, or don’t believe your eyes and ears.

My prayer has and will continually be for the Lord to give me eyes to see. I have always heard, and believe to be true, that you should be careful what you pray for. The realization of my prayer for eyes wide open is that sometimes what He reveals to me is not necessarily what I want to see. Then my eyes snap shut. I either take a breath, hold on and breathe, or stick my head in the sand. All these lead to thoughtful prayer of God’s intervention. All this leads to growth in the Lord.

How, you might ask, does sticking my head in the sand lead to growth? I believe that not everything is a situation in which we can “fix”. Sometimes it requires burying our heads so deep in prayer that it resembles an ostrich neck deep in sand. My first response to the potholes of life is prayer, then, Lord lead. What a wonderful blessing to know that God knows my name. He knows my comings and goings. He knows my heart. I will trust in Him. I may be an ostrich sometimes, but don’t be mistaken, I am deep in prayer and fully conscious of God’s goodness and mercy.

Psalm 9:10, “And those who know your name put their trust in you, for you, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek you.”
