Pennies…9-28-25
Pennies…9-28-25

My mom, the one I called mom, the woman who adopted me, spent time, quality time, with my children and I until her passing. We used to sit occasionally in comfortable silence with our coffee. She would say, “Penny for your thoughts”. My sister who passed in January would use this phrase as we sat many hours in one another’s presence. I can hear those women saying those words to me as I sit with my coffee watching my grandson try to sit as still as possible (which is impossible).

I have learned over the years that it would take more than a penny for all the thoughts in my head. I have begun practicing Psalm 46:10, “He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.” Centering in the moment, becoming present in the situations and circumstances, and letting the quiet Holy Spirit within lead me is my desire. I can see the difference that simple act of leaning into His gentleness and presence brings within my perspective, how it changes my heart, and how I am drawn closer to Him.
