As I headed out this morning, I prayed that the Lord would put on my heart today's topic. It wasn't long before I realized what that would be. You see last year as our Women's Bible Study dove into studying about discerning God's voice, I realized that the old saying "You get what you asked for" is so true. Are you one of those people who feel like you wouldn't know the purpose, or what you are supposed to be doing if the answer hit you over the head? I definitely am. One minute I think I know the purpose or decision, but the next minute, I have no clue.

As we studied and I prayed, I began to notice that God does put things in alignment if we seek first. Matthew 6:33: "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you" is the verse that comes to my mind when I ponder the ways in which God tells us every day how He wants us to proceed, where He wants us, His purpose, and the mission set before us. Sometimes we don't know His purpose until after the fact. There are other times when we know from the onset what we should be doing, but we become Jonah and avoid it at all costs. Excuses come. The task is too hard? Will I do the right thing? Are you sure you want ME to do this? There are others who would be a better fit for this task.

I know this man of God, a pastor, a law enforcement officer, and a thoughtful friend. He sends a blog through text each day. Daily scriptures and words of understanding. In his text today, he said "The Lord doesn't give us a testimony, He builds it. And when the time is right, He reveals himself, first to us, and then to those He was using us to reach." Yep, my Wow moment again.

You see, in all the ways I acknowledge Him, he can and will use me. Sometimes I'm ashamed of how I backpedal and try to avoid the task. At other times, I rush headlong without regard for detail, prayer, and understanding. But, in the end, "we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose" Romans 8:28. We are all called. What are you called for today?
