Silence…10-10-25
Silence…10-10-25

Sometimes the soul needs silence. Isaiah 30:15 says, “For thus said the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, “In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” But you were unwilling,”. God tells us to “Be still” in Psalms. Jesus gives us more than one example in the Gospels where he goes to pray by himself. Mark 1:35, “And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed”. Luke 6:12-13, Matthew 14:23, and Luke 5:16. Jesus provides an image so vivid and clear of the precious stillness and solitude of submitting in communion with Him.

Sometimes, we are not willing to submit to the quiet and solitude because we deem ourselves too busy. I think maybe it is because of the conviction we feel in certain areas when we simply quiet our soul and let the Holy Spirit speak. We keep busy even with the nudging to go to Him because we don’t want to hear and feel his pleas for changes that are essential to our growth. I can say this because I live this.

But, and I praise God for this but, I have come to seek the quiet moments of peace. I want God’s gentle grace, and trust He will give me guidance. My soul becomes so trouble that sometimes I cry out to Him for moments of quiet reflection to hear Him, be in His presence, and know His grace which I don’t deserve.

Psalm 46:10, “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
