The Rain...6-20-2025

I often write my blogs when the thoughts or messages come to me. Some of the time, I write these a day ahead or early in the morning as I'm in that still quiet space. The words just flow, and I have learned not to go for my computer, just use my phone instead. Of course, I don't have word and grammar check, and I make mistakes. But, my writing has character just like my paintings. Today my grandson and I are sitting on the porch watching it rain with thunder in the distance. He is disappointed as he was going to help me mow the grass. My husband was more exasperated as he was actually mowing grass at his mother's house and is now soaked. He had planned to cut hay tomorrow. The rain is getting heavier now and the fields will be too wet.

He has struggled this year getting hay done. He is stressed and worried that he wil not get enough because he can't get the first cutting done. With hay, you pray for a good first cut, and then the grass slows in growth for the second. If we are blessed, a third small cutting will complete what we need for the winter. This year may not be enough, which means buying hay, and that is expensive. This rain every few days inhibits being able to cut and get the hay cured for bailing. We don't even have the first cutting complete.

He worries, and surprisingly this is one area I don't worry as much. I have faith the Lord will provide. He always does. You see, although my husband knows who controls the rain, he also has his responsibilities. Zechariah 10:1, "Ask the LORD for rain in the springtime; it is the LORD who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone." My husband knows in his heart, and head, there is a reason for everything and the rains will dry up. But, He has the responsibilities of making sure he is taking care of the animals. He takes that seriously.

Just like the rain, God pours out his blessings on those who believe. Just like the rain, God nourishes. A light rain or a steady downpour can be blessings or lessons. I Kings 8:35-36 is a perfect example of God withholding the rain as punishment. “When the heavens are shut up and there is no rain because your people have sinned against you, and when they pray toward this place and give praise to your name and turn from their sin because you have afflicted them, then hear from heaven and forgive the sin of your servants, your people Israel. Teach them the right way to live, and send rain on the land you gave your people for an inheritance.".

Do I think my husband is being punished,? Of course not! I think there is a lesson only God wants him to see. I think these are showers of blessings. I think our God knows what we need just when we need it . If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31. Psalm 72:6, "May He be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth."
