Window to the Soul...

Our eyes bely our inner thoughts and feelings. When someone is speaking I look them in the eyes. Their eyes tell more than their words ever will. We can use words that are false, facial expressions can be controlled, but the eyes reveal who we are inside. When I want AJ to really hear me, I ask him to look me in the eyes. "Look at me!". My husband wants me to look at him when he is speaking. That contact is an important part of connecting. Really hearing others.
The Bible tells us to in Proverbs 20:12 "Ears that hear and eyes that see—the Lord has made them both.". God made our eyes to see, yes, but not just to look at things around us, but SEE. See the beauty, sadness, mercies, goodness, blessings, and sorrow. The word "eyes" is mentioned about 478 times in the Bible. The importance of having our eyes on Him and knowing His eyes are on us cannot be underscored when He reminds us in so many places that He is watching over us.
My husband's favorite verse is Psalms 121:1-2, "I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of Heaven and Earth." When Jesus lives within us, we can lift our eyes in times of need, as well as rejoicing in Him. Our eyes convey to others that we know our maker. We know His comfort and mercies. God is displayed to others through us and I believe that Love is shown in our eyes. The window to our soul.
