Rain…

I love the rain. Today has been soup in the crockpot, laundry, changing sheets, sewing dresses, college football, and warm blanket kind of day. I have even covered up in a blanket, and sat in my favorite spot watching the rain and feeling the cool fall air.
Isaiah 45:8 says, “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness; let the clouds shower it down. Let the earth open wide, let salvation spring up, let righteousness flourish with it; I, the Lord, have created it.“
There are so many similarities between the earth and rain, and my soul and the Lord. As the earth seeks the rain for nourishment, so do I seek God’s life-giving grace. As the thirsty earth craves rain to replenish the cracks and crevices worn by droughts, so does my life want for His renewing of my faith during dry spells. I pray to God for blessings of rain to water and give me growth. As the trees reach to the Heavens, so do I. I yearn for His rivers of glorious blessings. “He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock that shadows a dry thirsty land.”
