A Grain of Rice…

My husband has a saying, (Truthfully, he has many.), a grain of rice in a silo. He also says a grain of feed in the feed mill. In actuality, he is referring to his opinions are insignificant. However…
Rice is the main source of grain for over half the world’s population. A grain of rice is not mentioned in the Bible, but grains in general is a symbol of blessings, worship, nourishment, labor, growth, and resurrection. Grains specifically mentioned are spelt (Isaiah 28:24-25), millet (Ezekiel 4:9), and wheat (John 12:24), storing grain (2 Chronicles 32:27), grains of harvest (Ruth 2), grain offerings (Leviticus 23:15-16), first fruits from grain (2 Chronicles 31:4-5), and barley (2 Samuel 21:9). In Luke 17:35, women are grinding grain and one is taken, the other left. A reference to the end times.
You see, grains are seeds that grow. Wonderfully crafted in such a small amount like that of a mustard seed and our faith. We are precious seeds that are planted, cultivated, and harvested at the time of His second coming.
My husband was thinking of the one grain as insignificant. God looks at each grain as separate and beautiful. Each person when watered with His love, and nurtured by the Holy Spirit, multiples. Our life brings forth fruit. So what we consider insignificant and small, God grows to the size of a mountain. In our smallness, God is glorified.
Psalm 65:13, “The meadows are covered with flocks and the valleys are mantled with grain; they shout for joy and sing.”
