Carving…10-5-25
Carving…10-5-25

My grandson heard I was buying pumpkins and asked if he could carve one. We had a busy day with soccer game, mowing his great-grandmother’s yard, and then pumpkin carving. After the carving, we had to make cinnamon pumpkin seeds in the oven.

It occurs to me, we are pumpkins. God takes a seed, cultivates it, and waters it with love. We grow. He fertilizes with His word. We grow more. He tests us, we aren’t ready. He lets us grow more. We are tested again and finally we are ready. 2 Peter 3:28, "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen."

Then he begins to carve. As He carves, an image emerges, a likeness of Him. But, what we didn’t know, is that as we grew, He was already at work. It doesn’t happen overnight. We are never complete until we go to meet Him face-to-face. We are continually growing, producing, and He is carving. He is cutting away the bad yuck. He is helping us plant our own seeds. He teaches how to water and grow. The old withers away, and the new replaces. When we mess up, the old is scooped out, and He keeps working on us, His masterpiece.

Philippians 1:6, “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.”
