Death Into Life…

Charlie Kirk will be remembered today in a memorial service that will honor his life and legacy. For Christians, he is an example of freely and openly fulfilling the proclamation that was given by Jesus in Mark 16:15, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" He did this in his life, and will do this in his death.
No, he is not Jesus, and we are not putting him on a pedestal. We are shocked. In fact, we are astounded at the pure evil that committed this act. Even though, the Bible talks about this evil repeatedly. To me, in my humble opinion, Charlie Kirk is a modern day example of a martyr for Christ. I believe his words spoken, without hesitation, are an example of how we should all live, speaking truth in Jesus’ name.
Taken from the excerpt of his first inaugural address in 1933, FDR said these words. I have included the link because I can see so many parallels between that time in our history and today. https://historymatters.gmu.edu/d/5057/
“I am certain that my fellow Americans expect that on my induction into the Presidency I will address them with a candor and a decision which the present situation of our people impel. This is preeminently the time to speak the truth, the whole truth, frankly and boldly. Nor need we shrink from honestly facing conditions in our country today. This great Nation will endure as it has endured, will revive and will prosper. So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance. In every dark hour of our national life a leadership of frankness and vigor has met with that understanding and support of the people themselves which is essential to victory. I am convinced that you will again give that support to leadership in these critical days.”
Charlie Kirk was that leadership for many. He brought hope in his life, in his death, and now in his new life. He made the comment, “All death can do to the believer is deliver him to Jesus.” Oh, so true. As FDR so eloquently said, all “we have to fear is fear itself”. Death brought Charlie Kirk life. He did not fear what mere men could do to him. He followed the path our Lord and Savior directed him down. He fulfilled his purpose on Earth. I believe in Mr. Kirk’s death others have found life in Christ.
As his assassin was preparing to climb those stairs, move to his predetermined location, so intent upon his mission, Charlie Kirk was asked a question and answered with two quotes. One was a scripture. Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”. He knew he had a purpose, I’m sure he didn’t know it would be fulfilled within hours. I do not believe he knew he would be in Jesus’ arms so soon, but he was prepared. He is face-to-face with our Savior. He knew what he was asked to do. He was asked to simply carry on conversations and proclaim the name of Jesus. He fulfilled that purpose.
Do I know my purpose? Not at the present, but I do know my mission is the same. Proclaim the name of Jesus in every circumstance and situation. Boldly! Without fear! Unashamed! Then, at the appointed time, I will have death unto life everlasting.
