Drops…9-2-25
Drops…9-2-25

I love to watch a slow steady rain. The drops are cathartic and peaceful. I watch them fall, and am thankful for the nourishment that replenishes the soil, brings much needed water to the plants, and cools everything. When it becomes hot and thirsty for extended periods, I think of the Israelites who sinned and God withheld the rain. Amos 4:7, ““I also withheld rain from you when the harvest was still three months away. I sent rain on one town, but withheld it from another. One field had rain; another had none and dried up.”

I love these verses in Isaiah, 55:10-11, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” I can picture the drops from God’s watering can pouring out as they give the dry and thirsty plants a drink. I can see God’s words pouring over us as we study scripture bathing us in His glory. He fills our thirsty souls with His word and truth. He gives instruction, guidance, and shows us our purpose.

Lord, send your drops of love from Heaven and fill my thirsty soul. Show me Your way. Fill my cup to overflowing!
