Heavy Heart…

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was quoted as saying, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was silenced by a bullet in 1968. Today, another life was silenced by a bullet, Charlie Kirk. My husband and I have watched him countless times, as have many, doing interviews, speeches and such on media outlets. He was an advocate for belief that we have a voice. He was a devout Christian who believed in God and was unafraid to share his Biblical views. Why would someone do this? That answer is not something I think anyone can answer at this moment.
As I learned this news, it struck me the continued political undertones. There are those who actually applaud this act of violence justifying this in their minds because of their opposing political views. I see this act as an attack on Christian values. I see this, without a doubt in my mind, as another example of how far away from God our country has fallen. We are not a nation that allows others to have their own views without fear of persecution or even death. Many people have come to our country throughout history to be free of this persecution, this fear. Not so anymore.
Matthew 5:10-12, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you". Charlie Kirk is rejoicing in Heaven. He is being rewarded in Heaven for his actions on Earth.
I pray for my Lord’s forgiveness and mercy. I pray for Charlie Kirk’s family. I pray for this individual who committed this act. I pray that I will always have the courage to stand for Christ.
