Masterpiece…

Often car rides can get boring. Apparently, bus rides can too! Young girls, paints, a blank canvas, a long ride, and we have a masterpiece. At least in their eyes it was. In the bus driver’s eyes, it was not. She had meticulously cleaned and swept with care only to find this at the end of her route. Amused was not in her vocabulary.
As I stood in front of the young ladies seeking answers and calmly probing for information, I understood the bus driver. Consequences should always fit the crime, wash rags, soap, gloves, broom, and one young lady in each bus. A lesson most assuredly learned.
You see, when we don’t stop and think, we often make a mess of things. We rush headlong into the process without weighing the odds or determining the consequences. We often think we will have a beautiful outcome only to discover that the mess is anything but pleasing to us or those that our mess effects. These young ladies didn’t think. How often do we? How often does one mess lead to another? We stray off the path and our situation becomes messy. One lie leads to another? The list goes on and on. We see it clearly in other’s lives, but often have blinders on when it comes to our own.
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." — Ephesians 2:10 NLT. Those good things that he has for us lead to beautiful things. Our life is a canvas, let Him paint your masterpiece and leave the finger paints alone even when the journey is long.
