My Turtle…

We spent all day yesterday at the field for the end-of-season soccer tournament. My grandson loves soccer. With regards to sports, that is his thing. The problem with this, he runs like his dad, aunt, and great-great-grandmother. The rest of the team is quick. He wants to be, and gives it his all. The coaches are encouraging, but I can see their frustration as he is slow and timid. He cried after Thursday’s practice saying that he was the worst on the team.
You see, my grandson doesn’t understand his worth in the eyes of God. He is looking at himself through worldly eyes. While studying our Women’s Bible Study lesson, I was reading about how we are made in God’s image. (Genesis 1:27) Now, that doesn’t mean we run like God, or visibly look like Jesus, but we are made in His image to reflect His character, His compassion, and His love. To love as God loves. 1 John 4:7, “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God.”
Our worth is our value in God’s eyes. He formed us in His image. He knew us before we were born. (Psalm 139:13-16). Ephesians 1:4-5, “Even as he chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption to Himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will,”.
God chose us as His. We are valuable in His eyes. The world looks at us through eyes of criticism, valued because of what we can and cannot do physically and mentally, or our physical appearance. God looks at us because of what He did, as chosen, valued, and loved. He wants us to see ourselves as He does, His child who was fearfully and wonderfully made to love each other. I pray my grandson will realize his worth and his value through God’s eyes.
