No Turning Back...

I am not one to give up on anything. I tell my students that I am like a dog with a bone. I don't give it up and I don't quit. When they try to tell me they can't learn something, or I don't think they are really trying, I tell them I don't give up! I tell them that we will not quit until we learn whatever the concept may be. It just isn't happening.
I love the image of God pursuing us. He doesn't give up on us. He doesn't leave us in our mess, our mess of our own doing, our situations, our predicaments, or our despair. He reaches down, and He lifts us out. The image in my mind's eye is one of someone sinking in quicksand, but a hand reaches down from Heaven and lifts the person out. The hand is attached to a loving Father. A loving Father who is persistent. Psalm 139:7-8, "Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!"
Ezekiel 34:11, “For thus says the Lord God: Behold, I, I myself will search for my sheep and will seek them out." God will search us out. I love the parable of the ninety-nine. I am so grateful for the pursuit of the one that is lost. Thankful that He has pursued me and loved me. He never turned His back on me. He has never failed to reach down His hand and pull me out of the mire. I firmly believe that when we become Christians and when we accept Jesus, there is no turning back.
