Not My Problem…
Not My Problem…

Have you ever wanted to put your fingers in your ears, sing “la, la, la”, and adamantly state Not my problem”? You see, I am a fixer. If someone has a problem, I feel compelled to fix whatever the problem may be.

A wonderful Christian lady told me a couple of years ago, “You have two hands. Ask yourself, does this issue go in the right or left hand? The right hand, you can control. The left, you cannot.” My husband now will say, “Which hand?” The problem with that analogy is that neither hand truly holds something I can fix or control. Every problem, issue, pothole is also God’s, and in God’s control. My life is His, and He will place His hand on the situation regardless. Exodus 15:6, "Your right hand, O Lord, glorious in power, your right hand, O Lord, shatters the enemy."

It is not lost on me that my friend mentioned the right hand being in my control. If I place my hand in God’s, it is His hand that guides mine. Isaiah 41:13, "For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand, saying to you, 'Fear not, I will help you.' At least 166 times the words “right hand” are mentioned in the Bible. So when I place something in my right hand, if my hand is in His, He does have control. I don’t. I know which side I want to be on. I know who I want to “fix the problem.” I know it truly isn’t my problem, it is God’s problem because He holds me in His righteousness right hand. Psalm 16:8, “I have set the Lord always before me; because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.”
