Packing A Box…11-23-25
Packing A Box…11-23-25

This time of year is always so bittersweet for me. I love the holidays, family gatherings, fall leaves, cooking, music, programs, lights, stories, images all around that speak of memories, and anticipation of children. Everywhere I look, there is hope and joy.

But most of all, I love the reason we celebrate. For me, Thanksgiving is more about why I’m thankful, not the gathering. Everything God has blessed my family and I with and through. The sermon this morning at church was exactly what my heart needed, a reminder to first and foremost be thankful. Psalm 100:4-5, “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”

Christmas is about my Savior. I heard it best said recently by Franklin Graham. He said, we received the first gift, God’s Son. I believe that gift, in turn, gives us eternal life.

Our church is heavily involved in Operation Christmas Child. My family, including my grandson, and dear friends pack boxes, and help in any way we can. Just to know that each box can reach a child, and then at least 10 others is a mission in itself. It truly is all about Jesus.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
