The Blank Letter…

My grandson spent the night last night. He was telling his Papa and I this morning that he wanted to write a letter to the principal. We asked him why? He said that he wanted her to ask the superintendent to put a water fountain outside so the kids could get water at lunch. My husband asked why he didn’t just tell the principal instead of typing. Without thinking, I told him we need to teach kids to use their voice in different ways. Oh, how true that statement is.
Our lives are a blank letter. We fill the pages with experiences. We write the lines, but God is our author. Every time I think about God leading and directing my thoughts, one verse comes to mind. I’ve used it before, and I will use it again. Isaiah 55:8-9: "For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts"
Who am I writing a letter to? What is the purpose of that letter? Are my words on that page directed by God? My thoughts could fill a thousand pages, but they all point to God. My voice is never silent when there are pages to fill and letters to write. Sometimes, I know that God is the only one who reads those words. But isn’t that the one to whom the words are directed, about, and inspired by? I think of Paul writing to the churches. No, I’m not a Paul, but the point here is that Paul wrote words of encouragement, love, kindness, and correction to those he loved. No, again, I’m not Paul. Oh, but I wish I had Paul’s faith. I just love to read the letters of Paul reminding us to walk as Christ would have us.
I am filling blank pages with the words given each time I sit, pray, and write. God fills the blank letters in my life. I write for Him, to Him, about Him, and because of Him. Every letter begins with a blank page and ends with God.
Psalm 139:17-18:
"How precious to me are your thoughts, God, how vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand".
