There is a time…

My husband worked with a lady during his time on the Fire Department. She worked for EMS. She would frequently be the medic on scene and they worked well together. He could count on her to bring humor to horrible situations and lighten everyone’s load. They were friends on Facebook after my husband retired 9 years ago. Her tales of her two daughters brought hours of side-splitting laughter and amusement.
“And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life?” Matthew 6:27. God doesn’t promise us that we have a certain amount of time on Earth. He doesn’t promise days, hours, or minutes. Our pastor said Sunday that our commitment and our service cannot wait for the next day, week, or year. We can’t decide to live our life and make a decision when we are older, have more time, or our finances or relationships are different.
My grandson said to me this past week, “Moppy, I’m scared of dying.” I asked him if he knew where he was going when he died. He said, “Yes, Heaven.” We talked for a few minutes about what he was scared of. It wasn’t what happens after dying, but how he might die. I told him sometimes I’m afraid of that as well. The pain or the way I might die. We don’t actually know that either. But as long as we put our faith in God, He is with us.
My husband’s friend died this past week. She was 44 and left behind two girls. You might be wondering, “How?”. Not cancer, not a car wreck, but wisdom teeth. She had her wisdom teeth cut out, somehow she ended up in the hospital. She got better and then died. My husband and I have talked about this and I know he was affected. It was sudden. She was strong.
You see, we don’t know when or how. We only know “ a time to be born and a time to die,” Ecclesiastes 3:2 But, we don’t know that time to die. Are you ready? Do you know our Lord and Savior? Have you lived for Him?
