The Cost of a Clean Heart...5-25-25

Psalms 51:10 says, "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." In my mind, I can see David as he cried to God. His face to the ground begging God to cleanse Him and forgive him of his sins. We know the story, David saw and coveted Uriah's wife, Bathsheba. He wanted her and took his eyes off God to seek the pleasures of his heart. The ending, a tragic story of what sin costs. David had Uriah, a faithful servant, sent to the front lines in battle where he was killed. David took Bathsheba as his wife. They had their son and he died. David wrote this Psalm in his despair and repentance.

No, I have not committed that sin, but there have been prayers for God to cleanse my heart. In fact, that is my prayer now. A constant prayer to seek His will and create in me a good, faithful, righteous heart. I want to serve Him with my whole heart. Sometimes the worldly desires enter and I find myself taking my eyes off God. I can feel the Holy Spirit telling me to stop and don't look. In the case of last night, I found myself praying to see people through God's eyes. That will continue to be my prayer. I don't want to ever stop praying for that wisdom.

Matthew 5:8, "Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God."
