The Box…

I mentioned in an earlier blog that our church provides a Food Pantry and Clothing Closet. We all have our roles, although these were not assigned. It just happened that way. I serve through packing boxes. The ladies and I who pack have our own unique way that works for us. Now my OCD would have me placing each item a certain way, but we don’t have time for that. So the items are chunked in the boxes in an effort to get the 80-100 boxes packed as quickly as possible. I enjoy this service. After the boxes are packed, I assist where I am needed and we fellowship. Sometimes I find myself going from person to person, but at some point I will sit on the step and observe those around me. I can’t stand for any length of time and I have to sit at some point. But this gives me an opportunity to witness God’s people in the midst of His service.
Just as the boxes we pack twice a month have a variety of what our pantry can get each time, some items are the same for each box. This is the same with the ones who serve. Although some members serve as they can and those vary, some faces are the same each Food Pantry Day. This is the same with the Church. Like every box, every person is unique and has a talent, but the commonality is the service to one God. People will come and go. Many will serve in different places as God puts in their hearts. But the service to God will always be for His glory.
Deuteronomy 10:12: "Serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.”
