Eating Spiritual Food...5-28-25
Eating Spiritual Food...5-28-25

Matthew 4:4 says, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God." On the way to work this morning, I heard the commentator on the Christian station that I listen to say something about feeding our spiritual self. Basically, if we begin to struggle with fleshly thoughts and desires, we need to feed our spirit. I’ve thought about this off and on today. When the world creeps in, are we hungry? Just like a baby needs food, an adult needs food, and any organism needs nourishment, our spirit needs fed with the word. We hunger for His words and need to draw closer to God. As we move away from God, the desires of the flesh begin to strengthen. The closer we are to God, the more our spiritual desires are fulfilled. It makes sense.

You see, I know when I’m moving closer to God. The devil attacks. He doesn’t want me to build and strengthen my relationship with the Lord. He wants me further away. I have a choice every time He attacks. I can put on the whole armor of God and rally behind my Savior, or I can wallow in my mud hole and move a little further away from God.

James 4:8, “Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded.” I will draw nearer to God, acknowledge my sins, and be ever faithful and consistent in my beliefs that His mercies endure anything Satan can hurl in my direction. Do you need to eat?
