A Life In Progress...

My grandson loves wall climbing. He is a little on the chunkier side, and this is sometimes a challenge. I love his determination, and his willingness to try even the hardest side. He will move up a leg, hand, then another leg. Sometimes he will go backward and reposition hands or feet in order to try a different way all in an effort to go higher than he did the previous climb. When he gets tired, he let's go and slowly is let down to the ground. He doesn't get mad because he can't make it to the top, just tries a different way each time. His goal is to go farther than he did before.
My life currently is like this wall. Each time, I try to make progress. Sometimes I succeed and can go a little farther, higher, and closer to the top. But, sometimes I fall short of the next goal and start all over. I tire, but I can see the prize. I can see what I want to obtain. That is my perspective now.
You see, throughout my life, I have rarely made it to the top of any of the "walls" that I set out to climb. I did make it to the educational pinnacle, my Doctorate in Education. Monetarily, career, music, relationships, and various other "walls" have been unattainable when reaching past certain points. I now look at those other walls and realize those were my goals, but not the Lord's plan for me. I think we all do that. We set goals we seek to obtain without considering that may be what we want, but not really what is best for us.
Matthew 6:33, “But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” I have slid back down a lot of walls in my life. These were walls that I was not meant to climb. Ones that I chose to grab onto and hoist myself up only to loose my footing and fall backwards because I didn't seek His will. Oh, I still have some desires, God is working on those. I still have walls that I want to climb. Some I'm sure are not part of His plan for me. As long as I live, my life will be a work in progress. I will move forward, slip sometimes, but always be held and steadied by His hands on the solid rock.
Matthew 7:24-25, "Therefore whosoever* heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock."
