A Light In The Dark…12-25-25

It is Christmas morning and I have been awake off and on all night. It’s early, I’m in my spot with my coffee; and the house is dark, except for the tree, and my grandson’s candle. The house will be full in a couple of hours with our kids, grandkids, and grandmother.

I have to stop here and say that I have a cold, stopped up nose, coughing, and hoarse voice. Up off and on all night has partly been due to this. It’s not the anticipation of presents, I’m way to old and understanding for that. You see, we have dear friends who have been at a hospital out of state for the past two days. He is very sick. They took him by flight to another hospital in a bigger city for surgery last night. When I last spoke to my friend, she was updating me on the plan and the doctor came in. That was about 10:30 last night. He was on his 6th transfusion in a little over a day and a half. I’ve been up off and on praying. I’m actually very calm about this as I know it is all in God’s hands.

2 Corinthians 4:6 states, "For God, who said, 'Let there be light in the darkness,' has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ". I read the story of Jesus’ birth last night. He came that we should have life. He is the light of the world. I know these things, and I am not afraid. Are my husband and I concerned about our friend? Absolutely! But, we know there is a God who makes His light shine during our darkest night. He will not leave us. His light is His presence and that presence will be with us. As believers, we know this. We embrace this.

I do love this time of the year. I love to see the lights, because I know He is my light. Psalm 18:28:"You, LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light"
