Laughter…12-27-25
Laughter…12-27-25

My grandson and I laugh. He is always doing or saying something that causes me to chuckle and laugh. There is joy in our relationship. I treasure these memories and moments. I fully understand that in joy there can also be sadness and sorrow.

Proverbs 14:13, “Even in laughter the heart may ache, and the end of joy may be grief.” This scripture reached off the page to me this morning. Why? Perhaps Christians believe there can’t be joy in sorrow. That, as a believer, all things will be good and happy. No one can explain why things happen in our lives that turns our laughter to tears, but God knows. He holds our life in His hands. For a Christian, we understand and accept that the potholes will come. The devil will attack, pain and sorrow will be prevalent, but our joy comes from God.

In the New Year, I will begin a new study. I chose the book of Job. Job, to me, is an inspirational book that teaches God’s people about faithfulness. Job understood joy. “He will yet fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with shouting.”, Job 8:21. Through all the pain of life as a human, my trust will be in the Lord.

Psalm 126:2, “Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations.“The Lord has done great things for them.””
