A Servant’s Heart…7-24-25

There was a time my grandson would work with me tirelessly in the Food Pantry. He hasn’t done that in a while, opting to play with boxes, build robots with them, and do other things during that time. Oh, don’t get me wrong, he will carry out trash, pick up boxes, and carry the packed ones if I ask without much fuss. I was beginning to worry that he was losing his sweet spirit of giving. Not the case!

He was mowing for me on Monday. As I described before, he has begun to mow and do odd jobs for money. “Moppy, can I not put my $20 in the bank this time?” Okay, I thought. What is he wanting to buy? Then he said, “I want to donate it.” Oh my heart was so blessed to hear these words. I asked him who or what he wanted to donate to? He said, I don’t know what there is. Meaning he didn’t know all his options. We then discussed everything from Food Pantry to individual people who had needs, to the family with the baby in the hospital. He decided he wanted to give it to someone at church who was taking up $ to buy clothes for the little girl. I had him text her, we made arrangements to get her the money, and he mowed with a happy heart. As for me, my blessing was in knowing his servant’s heart was still present amid all the distractions of this world and a child’s life.

You see, I have heard this verse my entire life and have clung to it’s promises. Proverbs 22:26, "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.". I know my grandson is saved. I know he loves the Lord, but I also know he loves his video games, YouTube, movies, and anything electronic. I pray over this. I pray His servant heart remains strong.

Isaiah 54:13: "All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children." I understand the importance of teaching my grandson about God. I understand the importance of prayer-time, church worship, serving others, and forgiveness. I pray that this time, I let God lead and not try to do myself. I raised my sons in church, and I pray they will never forget what they learned. I pray my grandson always has a servant’s heart.

Philippians 2:3-5, “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:”
