The Christmas Story...12-15-2025

Yesterday, our Children's Church presented The Christmas Story during the morning service. My grandson was Joseph. He takes everything he is a part of very seriously. He may play around during practice, but when it comes to the performances, he is all in and focused. "Locked in" as my students say in class. The children have practiced for over a month. His dad and mom have begun to come to morning service occasionally. This morning, he was excited for them to see the program. His dad is on the local volunteer fire department. They got a call just as we were getting in the vehicle to pick our grandson up for Sunday School. He was headed to a fire that was near the national forest. My grandson knew he probably wouldn't make it back for the program. After the program was over, he was quite upset that his mom didn't have her phone to take a picture of him during the program. I took a couple with my camera after the program. I was helping and was unable to take photos during the program. When I got home, one of the ladies in the church had taken photos of the program and sent them to me. The Lord put provided that for my grandson. He always takes care of us. I forwarded the photos on to my son and daughter-in-law. His Sunday School teacher told me later that he had asked they pray for his dad.

When my grandson stays with me at night, we pray. Our prayers have been centered on going to God in prayer. I want my grandson to learn to take his concerns, worries, fears, etc. to the Lord. I want him to understand that God is not there just when we have troubles and struggles, but everyday life. He truly is a friend, a comforter, and a Father. My grandson is only nine. We thank God each night he stays with his Papa and I. We talk about a relationship with God other than quick hurried prayers at meals or church. 1 John 4:4 says, "Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world." My prayer is that my grandson understands that the Holy Spirit is within him to provide that comfort and peace.

I have seen a sense of calm in my grandson over the past week. He seems more willing to put together puzzles, check cows with his grandpa, play a game, and talk calmly about his concerns. I will continue to pray for his little mind to understand that God is greater within him than the one who roams around looking for those he can destroy I pray for a growing desire within my grandson to take everything to God, all thankfulness and struggle, Everything. God truly is the one who can calm all storms within and around us. Thessalonians 3:16, “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”
