Don’t Be Afraid…

I would love to say that I freely speak the truth in every situation. The truth is, I quite often keep my opinions to myself. I don’t lie, I just don’t put myself in the position that I need to give my opinion without someone asking. Colossians 4:5-6, “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time. Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.”
That being said, there is one area that I am not shy. I am not afraid to speak the Gospel. It is easier for me in a setting where I have a relationship with the people around me. I open up in Sunday School and share without hesitation. I have even remarked that “Today, I’m going to be quiet and keep my mouth closed.” Doesn’t happen. I can’t contain the words when we are talking about scripture, our service, and any lesson that is being discussed that day. I can’t even hold my tongue and keep from sharing praises and prayer needs. At one point in my life, this would not have happened. Now, it just flows. I love the openness of our group. Every voice is unique and every perspective is valued.
My grandson is so proud of his necklace from his Sunday School teacher. On the cross, there are stars and stripes. I pray for the world in which he will be growing up. I pray he will be able to speak the Gospel, attend Bible Study, and Sunday School, and carry his faith openly. Romans 1:16, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” I am praying for wisdom in speaking the truth of the Gospel to all according to God’s commandment.
