Finding Our Voice Through Others…
Finding Our Voice Through Others…

Have you ever just wanted to say something, then you were silenced, and you felt so disappointed? I don’t mean say things to tell someone off, be ugly, or get something off your mind. I mean to be able to express yourself and couldn’t.

Recently, a group of young students asked me to speak at their graduation. I knew they had asked another woman first. She is a dear friend and wonderful Christian lady. She didn’t feel like she could. They came to me. I knew the back story, and was honored. I accepted and began to prepare. Only, the current administrator at their small school vetoed me as their speaker. Was this spite, jealously, or meanness? I don’t know, and that really isn’t important. But, what I do know is that this was all in God’s plan. It was His quiet intervention for me and those others involved.

You see, sometimes, the Lord wants us to be silent. He has others that He needs to use. He has voices that will carry what is in our hearts and, more importantly, in His will to others. He knew my heart, always has. 1 Kings 8:39, “Then hear in heaven your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart you know, according to all His ways (for You, You only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind),”.

I contacted that sweet lady, the lady, who the kids asked first, and she spoke. She wrote her speech before we talked, and I was once again in awe of His merciful grace. She spoke from my heart. She said all I would have told those beautiful souls who sat in front of us. She told them how she had watched their character. She spoke of seeing Christ in their love for others. She told them to love always, be kind, and most of all to put the Lord first to lead them always. She said so much more that was in my heart. She was my voice and I am so blessed that God in His infinite wisdom knows how to use us to be His voice.
