God Made Them All...

This sweet girl couldn't get enough food from her first-time mother. After a couple of weeks, we noticed her lack of energy, growth, and stamina. We saw that her mother was trying, but as happens, it just wasn't enough. We have had many bottle babies in the past for various reasons. I gave her the first bottle, and she latched on, ate hungrily while wagging her tail, and curled up to sleep. We thought aloud, "Well, that was easier than most bottle babies. Great!" Not so quick. After a couple of days, we noticed a wound on her side. She was scratching with her hoof. We treated the wound, but it continued to worsen. My husband and I thought about what could have caused the problem and deduced the source. We treated her with a different type of ointment, but it just wouldn't stick to her growing wound. We took photos, and sought advice from a trusted friend and colleague. He advised a specific spray for wound care, with wrapping as she would tolerate. We cleaned and treated her new home, gave her fresh shavings, new hay to much on, sprinkled her with Diatomaceous Earth, and treated her wound. Lastly, we wrapped with clean bandages. She stood patiently, quietly, during our cautious and tender care.
We see in scripture that God made all creatures, Genesis 1:25, "God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good." He made these before He made man. Genesis 1:26-27, "Then God said, “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.” So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them." God made us to care in His image. In His loving, caring, and glorious image. He made us to watch over and care for the animals of all kinds. This little girl is one of God's creatures. She is a small picture of what it means to love and care for all animals.
The first part of Proverbs 12:10 says, "The righteous care for the needs of their animals". I love this. God gives guidance on loving and caring for animals. In His book of Life, The Bible, that is full of life lessons and instructions for our daily living, God did not leave out the importance of caring for others. In The Bible, He also instructs us to care for animals under our purview. Job 12:10 tells us, "In His hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind." God rules over all mankind. He rules over the fish in the sea, animals on land, and the birds in the air. He made them all.
