Mother Of A Thousand...

This plant is called Mother of a Thousand. If you look closely, each leaf will have small plants on the top around the edges. These will eventually have plants on each of these. If they fall off, you stick them in dirt and they will root. If watered occasionally, the plant will grow and continue to reproduce.
I am this plant. I have taught so long now that I have literally mothered thousands of students. I nourish them in my class and watch them grow. As they leave my class, they eventually become independent and continue to grow. I looked around at our back to school meetings. At least 25 of my former students are now my colleagues. I have had a small part in their development and growth.
My new coworker in the science department is one of those students. Now, I didn't teach her, but she was occasionally in my room. She is in her 2nd year of teaching, the first at our district. I walked into her class today and was greeted with "Made For More". Oh, my heart sings. I will be teaching alongside a woman of faith. 3 John 1:4 reads, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth." She believes. She is strong in her faith. I prayed for her class as I have so many before and after her. I see the answered prayer.
Galatians 6:9, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." This year I will add about 150 more students to my growing list of those I nourish. I will mother them with love and kindness. I will continue to pray for each. I will look forward to seeing their journey. I will praise God for each of my "Mother of a Thousand."
