My boys and 3 girls…5-3-25

In one of my classes, I have 13 boys and 3 girls. These students have a personality that sometimes frustrates me because of their social nature. They love to talk. However, I am so blessed by their kindness and willingness to be led. They have a personality that frequently leaves me smiling and I just love being their teacher. They ask me often if they are my favorite. I am quick to remind them that I don’t have favorites because to me each student has a unique quality that makes them special.

I walked into this class earlier this week and one student asked me if I had heard the phrase “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree”. I laughed out loud and told them that I had and asked if they had read the blog. Since I began the blog in December , they keep up with it. Not daily I’m sure, but often. Several have it bookmarked. Yesterday, I walked in and they asked me about ducks. I glanced over at a Chromebook and my blog was open. They love my Jesus music and one girl was so excited when she found out we had both been to a concert at a local church. Apparently that is cool that this gray haired old lady goes to concerts. Who knew! They laugh at my use of young people language and fill me in on the latest who likes who whether I ask or not.

Proverbs 22:6 gives instructions to “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” I pray they will remain with the Lord.

I heard this morning that 300,000 migrant children are lost in our country. Physically unaccounted for. To me, that is unfathomable. Where are they? More importantly, are they being cared for properly? I teach in a high English Language Learner area and I can’t even put into words how I would feel if this were one of these precious souls.

How many are spiritually lost? I am not the parent of all these children, but I can participate in their training. I can lead them. I can be God’s hands and voice to reach them. Use me Lord!
