Pet Peeves
Pet Peeves

The definition of a "Pet Peeve" is particularly annoying to some people. We all have them. My husband's biggest pet peeve is me leaving my clothes in the dryer, on the dryer, in the clothes basket in the laundry room, or simply not putting them away. It annoys him and we have an ongoing thing where sometimes I do this intentionally and he will put them on my pillow. He knows that I have to move them to get into bed. Sometimes we both laugh and at other times only he is laughing. There are times it is annoying for me as I don't always have the time to put everything away right when I need to and he is ready to use the dryer. I have a few pet peeves for him as well. That being said, my question. Does God have pet peeves?

Proverbs 6:16-19 talks about seven things that God finds detestable. "There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies, and a person who stirs up conflict in the community." Proverbs 6:17, a lying tongue, and Proverbs 6:19, a person who stirs up dissension among his brothers. Now when I read this verse, I think most Christians find all of these detestable. However, some Christians don't seem to think parts of this scripture are as bad as others. Yes, every Christian sees murder as detestable. But there are a few of these that some Christians don't consider as bad. For instance, lying, an effort to cause harm by our words or actions, and stirring up strife by gossiping. God's pet peeves are not "annoying" they are written as guidelines for our Christian lives. We should refrain from these things as they allow the devil to find a stronghold in our lives. As a parent, God-The Father gives us instructions to aid us in our Christian journey. He gives us parameters and guidelines that are beneficial just as I did with my sons growing up and my grandson now. God loves us so much that He wants us to grow, build others up, and be kind.

Just a side note. This is Kindness Week. Our school is wearing blue tomorrow for a young boy who was senselessly murdered. His favorite color was blue. His innocent blood was shed. He was kind, loving, caring, and God's child. He is in the arms of Jesus.
