Isaiah 26:3, “ You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” Today, I start my 25th year in education. I have grown tremendously since my first year in 2001. I have grown exponentially in the past year. Daily, I am grateful for another year. I will approach this year as in the past, with prayer. I pray for my students, parents, fellow teachers, administrators, staff members, and those in the community. I pray that my students will know they are dearly loved and wonderfully made. I pray they learn not because of me, but in spite of me. I pray that somehow they see Jesus in me and want to know Him. I pray for patience and understanding. I know from experience that there will be children who cross my path that are going through unspeakable things. I pray that I always show grace, kindness, and compassion. I pray that they know I love them. I pray for safety from those who seek to harm us. I pray for full stomachs and peaceful hearts. I pray for warm beds for each to lay their head. I pray for kind parents who are patient, willing to listen, and always understanding. Some would say that I live in a fantasy world with this prayer. I believe this could be a reality and will continue to pray for everything above. I know I believe in a God who can turn messes into messages of hope. I will sing with a song in my heart, for today I am blessed with one more year of loving my students, and I am thankful.
Psalm 28:7 (ESV) “The Lord is my strength and my shield; in him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults, and with my song, I give thanks to him.”
