Shrinkwrapped…
Shrinkwrapped…

My husband is a creature of habit. Gets up about the same time each day, makes coffee, and then watches the news with the weather coming on at the same time daily. This particular morning, the weather came on and he immediately commented with shrink wrapped. Wow! One of those open my mouth and shut it again moments.

Now before you think I was surprised in the comment, it was what I see in that comment that stopped me. You see, we often become such creatures of habit that we want our life in a perfectly shrink wrapped package. We want everything just as we planned or dreamed. We want that career, this job, that house, this car, this many boys and that many girls, the man or girl of our dreams, and the list goes on. Human nature plans our perfectly shrink wrapped life down to the target date to graduate, grandkids, and retirement.

I wonder as I look around how many people stop, step back and think “This is not what I expected.” Proverbs 16:9 , “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” I have learned during my life that almost everything is going to be mixed up, shaken down , and pressed out into something different than what I anticipated. But, as long as God is leading, it is His hands shrink wrapping my life and it is perfectly within His plans. If I give, if I serve, and if I allow His hands to guide me, I am blessed beyond measure.

Luke 6:38, “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
