Something Happened…

My husband, a dear friend of ours, and I attended a concert last night. You know that I love my Jesus music, and my husband is becoming familiar with some of the singers and their songs. My favorite song over the past six months has been Leanna Crawford's Psalm 23- Still Waters. It has been my comfort reciting the Shepherd's Psalm and feeling the peace flood my soul. Leanna Crawford was the first performer. As I looked around, my husband remarked that there were far more young people at this concert than at the last. I began to notice that as well. As the night continued, I saw several young people coming to the altar together and praying. This continued through the next performer. Then We Are Messengers began to sing. As the group was only a couple of songs into their set, something began to happen that I can't describe. The altar began to fill with the young people. The main singer, Darren, stopped. He asked adults to come and pray with the young people. He said, "They are seeking answers to prayers, and we need to pray with them for those answers." The front of the church was full of people of all ages praying over so many youth and young adults. As we sat there praying along with the young people and adults for the needs of those individuals, my husband remarked. It is great to see so many young people praying. I was thinking the same thing.
The room was so full of the Holy Spirit that to be in that room and not understand what God was doing is beyond my comprehension. There were people of every religion, race, ethnicity, background, age, and social status. That fact was a moot point when you are raising your hands to pray to God. He doesn't see religion and color. He doesn't care about social status or careers. He cares about our hearts. Darren went to the young people in one area and began to pray with them and for them. He cried for them and with them. He wept tears of sorrow and joy for circumstances, as a spectator, I could only ponder. He then went to his guitar and began to sing and praise God with solos as the youth and adults continued to pray. Finally, one by one and in small groups, they went back to their seats. He then said this, and I am paraphrasing. When you mourn and cry out to God, He hears. Then with that mourning and sorrow comes joy. We will be joyful of answers to prayers regardless of the outcome. Jesus is in control. He asked them all to come back down and fill the front and rejoice. They jumped and raised their hands and praised God with the group, We Are Messengers, as they sang Come What May, Wholehearted, and Maybe It's Ok, among others. We rejoiced that God was in the room. God was answering prayers, and God was moving the hearts of young people and old alike.
You see, if our nation and this world are to turn back to God, there has to be a revolution of young people and old alike turning back to God. It will take small steps in small churches throughout the nation and world with Christians on their knees. Matthew 18:20, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." I can without a doubt say that He was there and He is here with me. I know something happened in that church last night. I know something is happening now.
