Stories...8-18-25
Stories...8-18-25

My grandson loves stories. Since he was little, we have had our bedtime routine, then we will climb into bed. We talk to Jesus (say our prayers), and the stories begin. He calls them ghost stories, but they always have a happy ending, involve animals or little boys, have noises, may need a little acting out, and are entirely made up as I go. When he was very small, his eyes would get big and he would roll in fits of laughter. I often wonder what my husband thinks as he sits in his recliner listening to the animation from the next room.

As time has passed, some of the animated stories have been replaced with Bible Stories of Daniel, Moses, Ananias and Sapphira (great lesson on doing what is right and God knowing our heart), or any number of Children's Bible Stories. We always have our time of just talking, prayer, and stories.

Last night, we completed our stories and I told him that he had to go to sleep as I had to get up early in the morning. He kept talking. Then, I told him that he wouldn't be allowed to stay on a school night with me if he couldn't go to sleep. He says, "for how long". I said, "A week." He said, "What about a month, or a year?". At that, he stopped and said, "Moppy, you would never make it a year! You would miss me too much.". Yes, yes I would.

You see, I can only imagine how much the Lord misses us when we fail to be in His word and will. How sad He must be that we don't spend time with Him, communicate, talk to Him, and listen to Him. After all, He sent His Son for us, and we don't have time to read His word, or stop and pray. 1 Chronicles 16:11, "Seek the Lord and his strength; seek His presence continually!" I Thessalonians 5:17,"

"Pray without ceasing."

My grandson and I have developed a relationship because we listen, spend time together, and talk to each other. I am still building that with the Lord, but, oh how I treasure that "story" time.
