Talking to God...8-10-25

Every night that my grandson is with me, we pray. He puts aside his tablet, bows his head, and clasps his hands. He has a prayer that he trys to say all the time. The same one, and it is said very quickly. It essentially asks God not to let Satan into this house or in this room. It also asks God to watch over his soul. Although this prayer comforts him, we have been working on talking to God, really talking to God.

There are some people who I listen to pray and in my mind I can see them face-to-face talking with our Father. Their words, their connection, and the way they communicate displays their lives and the prayer life they have. I talk to God in my head and heart, but when I speak, I stumble and bumble. I repeat myself. I forget what I was going to say. I fall short according to my standards. But...

You see, the difference is that I talk to God in my head and it is only God and me. I am too cognizant of those around when I pray aloud. I am working on this, and as I center myself when I pray aloud, I can see the difference. I take a deep breath, and I speak to God. When I forget and get into my head space, I can tell that I lose sight of who I am praying too, so much so that my eyes are not fixed on Him. The Bible talks about this with prayer and praying to God in Matthew 6:5-6, "

“And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you."

My dear friends are not like these hypocrites that the bible talks about. These people I know talk to God. They really talk to Him, like I do in my head and heart. That is what I am trying to teach my grandson. That is what I believe this scripture is telling us. Our Father wants us to have that intimate relationship where we just talk to Him.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." I talk to God throughout the day, throughout the night, and without ceasing. I see my joy increasing because I talk to God.
