Temporary Home…5-5-25
Temporary Home…5-5-25

I heard a song yesterday called “Temporary Home” by Carrie Underwood. I had not heard this song in many years. It had a new meaning. I felt a connection to the words.

"This is my temporary Home. It's not where I belong. Windows in rooms that I'm passin' through. This was just a stop, on the way to where I'm going. I'm not afraid because I know this was my temporary home"

You see, when I heard this song in 2009 when it was first released, I didn’t have the intimate relationship with God that I have now. Even today, I’m still growing and building that relationship. I heard people say I can’t wait to go to Heaven and I would think, not yet. I understand now. There is an elderly gentleman in church who lost his wife not long ago. He would tell me that each morning they prayed. Their pray would be this is the day the Lord comes again.

Hebrews 11:16, “Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.” One commentary I read on this verse talked about the people and their desire for a new home. They were not longing for a new earthly home. They had one of those. They wanted to follow God and had faith in their heavenly home. I can say with confidence that I am not afraid. This is my temporary home.
