Grandmotherhood…7-8-25
Grandmotherhood…7-8-25

My grandson and I have a lot in common. We love music, pizza, pineapples, fruit, ice cream, chess, games, church, nature, and Jesus.

Growing up, I had one set of grandparents who lived in Oklahoma and one set who lived in Arkansas. I lost both my grandfathers about the same time to lung cancer. I didn’t spend time with my paternal grandmother who lived just miles from us. She had 12 children. I cannot even remember her face. As I’ve said before many names and faces are blocked by a mind that protects me from memories that are too painful to bear. The grandmother in Oklahoma was my mother’s mother. She had a hard life and was a hard woman. There wasn’t a great deal of love and affection in either home.

I anticipated grandmotherhood with excitement. I desired many grandchildren with a home full of their laughter and their presence. Unfortunately, I will only have one. He is and will always be what my heart needed. God knew what to send. Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares theLord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
