The Son Is Shining…

Have you ever had one of those moments where it looks like rain, then the Sun peeks out and shines brightly on your face? You stop, look up, close your eyes, and feel the light warmth flood over your face.
I love Sunday morning worship. Sometimes I close my eyes, lift my face, and I can feel the Son shining on me. I can see the brightness of His light. I can feel His warmth. Isaiah 60:19, "The sun will no more be your light by day, nor will the brightness of the moon shine on you, for the Lord will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory".
I was driving to work recently. I could see the clouds covering the sky. The Sun was there, but the rays could not be seen because they were obscured by darkness. As I drove on, suddenly the light burst forth. We have struggles that feel covered in darkness, it seems like the light can’t get through. Then, all of the sudden, the storm clouds clear, and His glory shines. Our struggles are behind, and we move into the light. The reality is, just like the Sun never goes away, neither does our Son. Our Lord is always there. Just as we move away from the Sun by Earth’s orbit, we move away from the Son by our sin, fear, lack of faith, or our circumstances that take us away from His grace and mercy. We move, He does not.
Now, here is where some smart person would tell me that the Sun actually does move as well. But, I like my analogy so I’m sticking with it in this respect. We move, God does not. The Sun always shines, things get in the way such as clouds. The Son is always present, we get in the way and move from our communion with Him. He is an ever present light.
Psalm 139:7-10, “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there!"
