After The Storm…

When storms come sometimes, they are pitter patter drops barely recognizable on the windshield or ground. At other times, the rain comes down in sheets. Still other storms are so violent that the winds and rain upturns the world around us. Things are turned upside down, blown around, soaked to the bone, and worn ragged from being tossed about. Every storm has it’s own way of leaving the surroundings different than what they were before the storm. Some storms come in waves one right after the other leaving the soaked leaves dripping from rain, limbs torn from branches, and flower petals closed tight to protect the fruit within.
You see, life is very much like the storms mentioned above. I often see one end and think when will the next come. I wonder if I’m holding my breathe that the next storm will be so strong that I will bend with the violence of the weight. I see the sun rise and know that after each storm there is light. There is breath before the next onslaught. Am I waiting and watching for each turn, for each sign of impending waves? Am I living life to the fullest trusting God has each storm? Do I trust each raindrop is a tear that will transform to a blessing? Do I expect His hand of protection as my life moves forward ever winding between mountains and valleys? Isaiah 25:4: "You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat." Yes, Lord, I trust in your mercy and grace. I can do all things…in every storm.
